Incident Details

The Met Office are advising that temperatures today are expected to be above average for the time of year. Highs are forecast to exceed 30°C in London, and similar high temperatures are likely across central and southern England and Wales. This hot weather is expected to continue well into the week.

The forecast weather may cause trains to be disrupted. Heat can cause overhead lines to expand and sag, line-side fires and also rails to buckle.

Today, Wednesday 8 July

  • Between 09:30 and 21:00, local services will run direct between Reading and London Paddington in both directions
  • Certain London Paddington to Oxford services will not run

Please check your journey.

If your train is cancelled, you may travel on either of the two services before, or two services after, your original train. If these are peak services or less flexible, you can still travel with your original ticket, at no extra cost.
