Incident Details
The Met Office are advising that temperatures today are expected to be above average for the time of year. Highs are forecast to exceed 30°C in London, and similar high temperatures are likely across central and southern England. This hot weather is expected to continue well into the week.
The forecast weather may cause trains to be disrupted. Heat can cause overhead lines to expand and sag, line-side fires and also rails to buckle.
London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway are experiencing some heat related issues affecting some of their train services.
Routes currently affected:
- All services to / from Birmingham New Street until the end of the day
- Buses replace trains between Bletchley and Bedford until the end of the day
- Trains between Worcester Shrub Hill and Hereford until the end of the day
Rail replacement:
Rail replacement road transport is in operation between Hereford and Worcester, calling at all stations between Hereford and Worcester. This shuttle service is scheduled until the end of the day.
Ticket acceptance:
To help you complete your journey, your tickets are being accepted at no extra cost on:
- National Express West Midlands via any reasonable route
- West Midlands Metro between Birmingham and Wolverhampton
- Transport for Wales between Hereford and Shrewsbury in both directions until the end of the day
