RailChecker outages w/b 20/07/2026

Over the last week RailChecker has been experiencing extremely high levels of traffic associated with web scrapers/bots. This meant that the server that managed requests from both the app and the website was struggling to satisfy the demanded traffic level and all additional burst capacity available was exhausted. This resulted in traffic being throttled severely with long delays in processing data from National Rail as well as incoming requests from the app and the website. The high traffic levels were primarily through the website, which also crashed on Sunday and was unable to recover until this morning (Monday).

Normal service has been restored, and additional anti-bot safeguards are being rolled out. Apologies for the inconvenience caused by this issue over the last week, this should hopefully be the last of such incidents.
